A Bad Painting

For this piece, my intentions were to create a simple, kinda abstract picture of plate of dragonfruit. I accomplished my goal by using acrylics on canvas. My painting is about color and dramatic shadows. The most difficult challenge I had to face was making a painting this large. I've never done a painting like this of this size. It was daunting and I definitely prefer working on smaller pieces. I met this challenge by just toughing my way through the difficulties and using relaxed, large strokes. My painting really works in the dragonfruit itself. If I could just remove everything besides the fruit, I would. Some things I have learned are how to paint things more simplistically. If you look at the dragonfruit, it basically only uses about three colors. All of them being various shades of pink and purple. A mentor I have learned from is Bob Ross. I like how peaceful and accepting he is when painting. I guess this painting is just one of my happy accidents. Another artist I have learned from in the class is Kelsie. I really enjoy her work and I love her positivity. If I had to do-over anything, I would redo everything except the dragonfruit. If you couldn't tell, I like the dragonfruit the best. Everything else is actual trash.
